As most laptop batteries are composed of rechargeable AA cells, why not 
take an old one apart and rebuild it with redchargeable lithium ion AA 
cells ?They ought to have a much longer life per charge. If I had an HP 
Omni, which I like a lot, I'd look into that, if I needed longer battery 
life.

I think one li-ion cell is rated at 3.6 volts, with good voltage swing
between full charge and full drain.

Try the NiMH AA rechargables. Some of them are like twice the capacity of
'ol Ni-Cd AA's.
