Hi!

Somebody once said that we should all introduce ourselves, so here I am.
My name is John and, last week, I purchased a Poqet from CA Digital.

At the moment, I'm primarily using mine as an electronic organizer and
to play some interactive-fiction (text adventures). I suspect that I'll
find other uses after I get a couple more SRAM cards.

FYI: the salesperson there said that they will be getting the serial
cables back in, though I got the slight impression that they may be
having them made up special for them.

I do have a couple of questions about power management:

1) What makes a program (un)friendly to power management? I notice that
my favorite I-F interpreter (Frotz) turns off the power management
   as soon as it starts.

2) What is the effect on battery consumption of using the SRAM cards
actively? Ideally, I'd like run PoqetTools with the data on A:, but
I find that when I do, the A: light stays on constantly. (It also tends
to stay on for a long time after using A: for anything.)

Thanks... <<<John>>>

I still have a couple Lotus 123 cards for the Poqet.

Asking $40 shipped for new, shrinkwrapped version.
Asking $35 shipped for new, (box not shrinkwrapped but internals are).

Hello,

I just subscribed to this list. I'm 13 years old and can't afford a Poqet PC yet, but
I'm hoping to as soon as I can (either that or another palmtop/PDA which lets me use DOS
instead of some stupid GUI).... I have a couple questions:

First, has anyone tried running QBASIC on their Poqet-PC?

Second, are there any C compilers that will run on it?

Lastly, is there any way to use a pcmcia modem without a type I to type II adaptor? And
is there any way to use a wireless modem?

Thanx,
Eli Naeher

P.S. I also read that the Poqet PC comes with a communications program...what
upload/download protocols does it support?
